SINGING BOWLS
Singing bowls are full of secrets, their sound touches us on all levels. Some sounds appeal to us, others can be disturbing. Many people use the singing bowls for enjoyment, for relaxation or to support a healing process. Our awareness of our bodies and our feelings becomes more conscious. Singing bowls are also played at the beginning or at the end of a meditation. As with all instruments, the effect depends on the person playing and their intentions. The singing bowls illustrated here and played in the recordings originate almost exclusively from Dr. Andreas Neugebauer’s collection. He has written a text relating to the planetary singing bowls in which questions relating to the origin, form, manufacture, playing method and the sound behaviour of planetary tuned singing bowls are answered in detail.
